Vocal in Need – Kick-off meeting in Tralee

The first meeting in the project Vocationally Orientated Culture and Language in Need – Vocal in Need  was held in Tralee on 23rd – 24th October 2017.

Vocal in Need project implies the transfer of innovation from the VOCAL-Medical project (2014-2016), related to language and cultural learning in vocational contexts, to a new vocational area, namely the security sector. It targets professionals in the security sector who need to communicate with the migrant community, who are often non-nationals, in specific situations where good communication skills can sometimes mean the difference between life and death. In doing so, it responds to an important need of overcoming language and intercultural barriers when interacting with members from the migrant community. The project aims to provide language and culture training materials contextualized for the security sector, through cooperation between educational institutions and professionals working in this sector. One of the five on-line training modules will also be for agencies that work with migrants.

The meeting was very well prepared and professionally conducted by the coordinator of the project Institute of Technology Tralee. It was attended by all representatives of partner organizations from: Lithuania, Turkey, Germany, Italy, Austria, Bulgaria and Poland. Participants divided their tasks in the project, yet special attention was paid to the dissemination of results and the risk management plan.
