BuildRes – The Project That Will Change Europe’s Demographic Future

On April 2, 2024, the sunny city of Pafos in Cyprus hosted the Kick-Off Meeting of the BuildRes project, bringing together representatives of partner organizations from across Europe. The event was hosted by CCIF, serving as the project coordinator.

Why is BuildRes so important?
European demographic statistics are alarming:

  • The share of young people in the EU population dropped from 18.4% in 2010 to 16.3% in 2021
  • Forecasts indicate a further decline to just 14.9% by 2052
  • 2022 saw the lowest number of births since 1960

The BuildRes project responds to this crisis through comprehensive actions:

  1. Education and support – workshops on reproductive health, work-life balance
  2. Digital tools – an information platform for young adults
  3. Social campaign – changing the narrative around parenthood
  4. Policy recommendations – developing systemic solutions

During the two-day meeting in Pafos, partners:

  • Detailed planned activities for the coming months
  • Developed a common methodology for researching young adults’ needs
  • Defined key target groups of the project
  • Began work on the educational platform

BuildRes is not just another project, but a real response to one of the most serious challenges facing modern Europe.

The project will run until 2026, and its effects are expected to help reverse worrying demographic trends.
