Project description

C-ROADS project aims to untap the potential of grassroots solutions to tackle climate change and achieve climate justice trough community-based participatory approaches. To achieve this purpose, the project will combine a range of formal and informal methods of learning and social development with interactive narratives, game-based learning and a didactic app with the objective to boost participatory skills. Therefore, C-ROADS will define seven (7) learning pathways to support institutions involved in adult education to boost climate change awareness amongst individuals and their local communities.

Target group

  • Individuals
  • Professionals working in adult education
  • Local and civil society associations, NGOs and other organisations working in informal and non-formal learning

Project results

The main results of the project will be the creation of:

C-ROADS Didactic APP & Advocacy Learning Path

This work package will provide individuals with a set of tools to boost climate change awareness and proactive and influential participation. In specific, under the development of work package 2, partners will also define the combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to get involved in climate action and justice. These will be designed as a competence framework for the C-ROADS learning path designed in a format of an advocacy learning path.

C-ROADS Didactic Escape Rooms

These escape rooms will be designed to create meaningful context for individuals to solve different life challenges related to climate change and justice. These game-based learning exercises will also cover transversal learning skills (critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication) and life skills (flexibility, leadership, initiative, productivity and social skills), with the aim to empower community participation in climate actions issues. Virtual escape rooms activities allow participants to construct their own knowledge based on real-time experiences and reinforce positive behaviour change.

C-ROADS Thematic Photovoice & Hands-on Guide for Educators

This work package has three specific objectives. First to upskill adult educators on photovoice methodology through an online crash course. Second, to develop a hands-on guide, for adult educators, on the use of the photovoice methodologies to boost participatory skills among individuals so they can better address issues about climate change advocacy on a local level. Third, to support the participation of individuals in their communities to take action towards climate change and justice by driving them in a local photovoice research. Over the past decade increasing attention has been given to approaches individuals can take to respond to the climate crisis and the social injustices that are inextricably linked.
