Project description
The project aims to increase the digital literacy of students and teachers through the provision of free, open source e-learning resources.
In 2006 the European Parliament recognized Digital Literacy as one of the eight key competences that every European citizen should master and as one of the four foundational skills for learning.
Further, enhancing Digital Literacy is one of seven pillars in the European Commission’s 2010 Digital Agenda for Europe According to the Digital Agenda Scoreboard 2015 40% of the EU population has an insufficient level of digital competence, including 22% who do not use the Internet.
The project will also assist in promoting educational and career opportunities within the Tourism and Hospitality sector to school and VET students through:
- the provision of information on further educational opportunities to students,
- clarifying transitions between different levels and types of education,
- motivating them to remain in education as it provides information on entry routes to the Hospitality and Tourism,
- the provision of accessible and open source resources which they can revisit in their own time.
