On 14th and 15th January 2016 in Cracow the last meeting within in VOCAL-Medical project took place, which aims at overcoming language barriers in the medical sector.
The first day began with a meeting, which was held in Wyspianski Hotel. Partners exchanged experiences acquired during project execution. They presented results and feedback gathered after the testing phase. After the discussion, it was clear that the project draws a great attention, and is touching a very important subject, that is a communication between doctors or paramedics and patients of different nationality. Partners discussed the idea of expanding the application to other languages such as Arabic, Italian or Spanish. All partners expressed their interest in further cooperation in this matter.
On the second day, a final conference summarizing VOCAL-Medical project was held at Frycz Modrzewski Academy in Krakow. It was open to all interested participants, resulting in high attendance. At the conference, Kristin Brogan from the Institute of Technology Tralee (Ireland) presented main aims of project and talked about its execution. Łukasz Kłapa from Danmar Computers presented the mobile application for paramedics and main part of project – the application for learning languages, including the existence of cultural differences.
The conference ended with summarising the whole project, followed by a public debate about problems on communication in emergency medical services.
